Low-VOC and No-VOC for your Home Project

When selecting your paint, consider using Low-VOC (volatile organic compound) and No-VOC (less than five grams per liter) paint. These options have less of a “new paint” odor because of the fewer VOCs. Toxic substances from VOC affect indoor air quality and may have hazardous short term health results such as headache, dizziness, and respiratory. Long term issues may be liver, kidney, and neurological damage. Most manufacturers offer these environmentally safe options at a small percentage higher cost than regular paints. A variety of selections can be found at most supply stores; such as Sherwin Williams and Lowes.
No matter which option is selected, make sure doors and windows are wide open and the room is able to aerate during and after job is complete.
